OLDKNOWS STUDIO GROUP -Archive

Oldknows Studio Group and was set up in May 1987 by Fine Art graduates from Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University.) 

Denise Weston was one of the seven founding members, along with Marcella Eldi De Persis, Anthony Hall, Ted Helmsley, Chloe Twells, Zoe Tyssen and Steve Webster. Oldknows Gallery was the first artist run gallery in Nottingham at the time. Oldknows Gallery  ran as a non- profit making exhibition space from 1989 -1995.  

Exhibitions included : one person and group shows from Nottingham as well as national and regionally based artists, national artist exchange projects, including Transmission Gallery Glasgow, Glasgow/Nottingham and the exchange show from Oldknows -mere jelly exhibition in 1996 with  art catalogue by Stuart Morgan .(Artscribe editor, writer and curator.)

The group was based @Third Floor, Oldknows Factory, St. Annes Hill Road, Nottingham. Oldknows Studio Group formally disbanded in 2010;.

Past members include artists such as: Jackie Berridge, Stephen Craighill, Chris Lewis-Jones, Samson Kambula  Jeremy Miller, Yelena Popova, George Shaw, Gurminder Sikand, Simon Withers

Oldknows Studio Group was instigative in nurturing artist led exhibitions and projects from the late 1980's through to 2010.
