BIOGRAPHY


Studio April 2017


Originally from Sheffield, Denise Weston graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1985 with a 1st Class BA Honours Degree in Fine Art. She was awarded an MA in Fine Art in 1986 from Birmingham City University). She was a founding member of Oldknows Studio Group in Nottingham and was involved in setting up and curating exhibitions at Oldknows Gallery, an artist run exhibition space from 1989 - 1995. From 1987 onwards, she has worked as a practising artist and has exhibited in group and solo shows both nationally and internationally.

Denise's work is included in both public and private collections, including the Bibliotheque Nationale Paris & Arts Council England. She has been the recipient of several awards from Arts Council England, for her own work, as well as artist lead initiatives and curatorial projects.

Denise worked as a visiting Lecturer on Fine Art Degree courses from 1987 - 1997. She was a  Part time Fine Art Lecturer at The University of Nottingham from  2006- 2012, working on both Adult Education and Undergraduate programmes in Fine Art. She currently holds a 0.6 Lecturer post at Nottingham College, UK, where she has taught on both Further Education & Higher Education courses.

COMMISSIONS

Denise has been privately commissioned to create several pieces of work. She has also produced a series of large scale drawings for  Future Factory, Nottingham 2005 ' Fabrication' exhibition and the 1851 Gallery (all at Nottingham Trent University).
